PaweÅ Krzywdziak's Scientific Monograph Explores Teaching Typography
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PaweÅ Krzywdziak presents "Didactics of Typography. Teaching the Letter / Teaching with the Letter," a scientific monograph delving into the methods and outcomes of teaching lettering and typography. This publication aims to spark a broader debate on the discipline's current state and future, featuring syllabuses, student projects, and discussions of teaching outcomes.
The volume's modest form organizes diverse articles with a layout that accommodates both Polish and English versions of the text in parallel. The monograph's visual style, printed on uncoated cream white paper, features a monochrome color palette with orange accents, creating a unique and engaging reading experience.
The book, printed in Pantone 021U and offset black on Munken Pure 120 paper, measures 200 x 17 x 260 mm and contains 180 pages. It includes 12 illustrated chapters, 10 of which are related to different typographic studios, offering a comprehensive overview of typography teaching in Poland.
PaweÅ Krzywdziak's project began in April 2018 with a typographic conference in Cracow, Poland, and the publication was issued in 2019. The monograph is a result of extensive research, aiming to capture diverse insights and provide a holistic view of typography teaching in Poland.
PaweÅ Krzywdziak, born in Katowice, Poland, is a Graphic Arts graduate of the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. He continues his artistic research as a doctoral student and is an assistant lecturer in the Lettering and Typography Studio of the home university. His work has been recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in 2020.
