Yuji Iida's NAGOMI project reimagines welfare facilities with a focus on relaxation and functionality, completed in Miyagi prefecture, Japan in 2021.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Yuji Iida's NAGOMI project is a groundbreaking approach to welfare facilities, designed to meet the needs of a growing workforce while providing a relaxed atmosphere. The building's unique shape and sloping roof create a large, open space that houses a cafeteria, event spaces, a gallery, and relaxation areas, all easily accessible even in winter. Inspired by the concept of rechargeable battery cells, the design harmonizes with the surrounding landscape and nature, offering a serene environment for users.
The facility's design is based on a circular building with eaves, featuring a trussed structure that creates a spacious cafeteria with a contrasting ceiling design. The building's layout was meticulously planned, considering factors such as wind direction, snow accumulation, and sunshine to optimize its functionality and interaction with the environment.
Recognized for its exceptional design, NAGOMI was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2022, highlighting its outstanding expertise, innovation, and remarkable level of excellence. The project reflects Yuji Iida's commitment to achieving a high level of compatibility between function and design within limited constraints, showcasing his dedication to creating impactful architectural solutions.
