Introducing Cecilia, a sustainable armchair designed by Linda Martins, inspired by Scandinavian style and dedicated to her grandmother's love for nature and handmade works.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Linda Martins introduces Cecilia, an armchair designed as a tribute to her grandmother's love for nature and handmade works. The sustainable armchair is crafted with recycled and reused materials, featuring a low, reclining structure for comfort and relaxation. The backseat, made of leftover fabric, creates an aesthetic volume and provides comfort, while the seat is crafted from discarded leather, making each piece unique. The armchair's design and realization technology focus on sustainability, utilizing pressed pieces of wood from reuse and leftover materials to reduce waste. Cecilia measures 900mm in width, 820mm in depth, and 1120mm in height.
The project commenced in November 2019 in Sao Paulo and was completed in January 2020 in Santa Catarina. Linda Martins overcame creative and technical challenges by utilizing leftover fabric for the backseat and repurposing wood slats for the structure. The armchair received the Silver A' Design Award in 2020, recognizing its outstanding expertise, innovation, and sustainable design approach. The Cecilia armchair is a testament to Linda Martins' commitment to sustainable design, inspired by her family and life experiences.
