FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Linda Martins introduces Oscarina, a handcrafted chair inspired by the modernist period and Brazilian architectural icons. The chair, named after Oscar Niemeyer, combines straight and hand-turned lines with noble Brazilian materials such as wood and woven cane, reflecting a common identity in modernist furniture. With its manual production and focus on material quality, Oscarina embodies the essence of Brazilian furniture from the 1950s.
Measuring 525mm x 497mm x 858mm, Oscarina is meticulously crafted using a lathe, ensuring a flawless finish. The chair's structure, made primarily of wood and woven cane, exudes simplicity and elegance, making it suitable for various environments while providing comfort and sophistication.
Designed and realized in Brazil, the project commenced in August 2020 and concluded in January 2021. The research process involved studying the modernist period, materials, and artisanal production, leading to the decision to use only wood and woven cane, both quintessentially Brazilian materials.
