Flexion: Redefining Bench Design

Flexion, a creation by Elif Günes, aims to revolutionize the traditional concept of bench design. Inspired by the urban environment and the people within it, this sculptural bench offers a unique seating experience that mirrors the dynamism of city life.

The design, measuring 300 cm in length, 90 cm in depth, and 45 cm in height, is crafted to accommodate at least two individuals, emphasizing social distancing. Its innovative approach challenges the conventional perception of benches as mere functional fixtures, infusing them with a reflective and artistic essence.

Constructed with a metal frame and adorned with Corian material, Flexion embodies durability and style. The surfaces, resembling mirrors, are painted in various colors, adding a futuristic and visually captivating element to urban spaces.

Elif Günes, along with Bülent Ünal, embarked on the project in November 2019, culminating in its completion in January 2020. The design process involved extensive research to create a product that not only serves a practical purpose but also enriches the urban landscape with its innovative form.

Flexion's unique approach to bench design has garnered attention, earning it the prestigious Silver A' Design Award. This accolade recognizes the design's exceptional creativity, technical prowess, and its ability to evoke positive emotions and wonder.
