Paloma Sanchez's latest creation, "Core," draws inspiration from the extraordinary process of gemstone formation, symbolized by a breathtaking 2.5cts natural Sri Lankan pink sapphire at its core. This exquisite necklace also features two pure silicon specimens, representing the earth's crust, carefully selected for their contrast to the vibrant sapphire. The design serves as a timeless reminder of the natural world's beauty and wonder, a treasure to be cherished for years to come.
What sets "Core" apart is its unique handmade construction, utilizing a wax casting technique and featuring 18kt "melted" gold accents and an 18kt gold chain. The necklace's design effectively captures the essence of the genesis of gemstones in a visually striking manner, making it a truly exceptional piece of jewelry.
The necklace, with dimensions of h:4cm x w:3cm x t:1cm, is worn with a detachable gold chain, allowing for manual length adjustment. The project began in 2019 in Switzerland, where the silicon specimens were found, and was completed in June 2021. The centerpiece, a natural Sri Lankan pink sapphire, was discovered in Sri Lanka, adding to the global journey of this remarkable piece.
