Eisuke Tachikawa's "ston" Aroma Inhaler Wins Silver A' Design Award 2021
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Eisuke Tachikawa's latest creation, "ston," is an innovative aroma inhaler designed to provide a healthy and mindful break, offering an alternative to smoking and drinking. The device, named BREATHER, aims to deliver a unique mindful experience, akin to a deep breath, through its stone-shaped, organically curved, and stone-moulded design. The product has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2021.
"ston" is a stone-shaped inhalation device that allows users to inhale caffeine and GABA, promoting a sense of balance and calmness akin to meditation in Zen or yoga. The device's unique lighting pattern aids in regulating the rhythm of breath, offering a peaceful and calming experience. Unlike traditional smoking, "ston" provides a special and environmentally friendly experience, eliminating the harmful effects of smoking and the generation of cigarette butts.
The design team, led by Eisuke Tachikawa and NOSIGNER, has meticulously crafted "ston" using a one-piece aluminium enclosure created through a technique called metal squeezing. This unique and challenging method allows the aluminium to be squeezed to expand inward beyond 180 degrees, resulting in a seamless, parting line-free design. The high-level production control technology in Japan has played a crucial role in realizing this exceptional product.
Eisuke Tachikawa, a design strategist and the founder of NOSIGNER, has consistently pursued social design to address various social issues. His "ston" aroma inhaler exemplifies his commitment to creating innovative solutions that promote well-being and mindfulness. The Silver A' Design Award is a testament to the exceptional expertise and innovation demonstrated in the design of "ston," showcasing its remarkable level of excellence and positive impact on users.
