Stonesal: A Fusion of Nostalgia and Innovation

Inspired by the desire to create a refreshing yet nostalgic sanctuary amidst the fast-paced lifestyle of modern Shenzhen, Stonesal is a unique restaurant concept designed by Jeffrey Zee. Located in the trendy Nanshan district, Stonesal reinterprets the traditional steakhouse with dramatic materials, artistic expressions, and innovative manufacturing methodologies, offering a one-of-a-kind dining experience for its guests.

Spanning 850 square meters indoors and a lush 450 square meter outdoor patio, Stonesal boasts distinctive features such as a double height dry-aging room, an octopus translucent central bar, a generous open kitchen, a mezzanine wine showcase, private VIP rooms, and a main dining area with a soaring 5-meter ceiling. The restaurant's exterior facade is a collage of textures with copper, marble, and glass, while the interior features materials like translucent marble, Himalayan salt blocks, metal mesh, antique wood planks, vintage mirror, and more.

The centerpiece of Stonesal is the upside-down hanging octopus sculpture, measuring over 2.6 meters in diameter and weighing around 1 ton, which was meticulously crafted using 3D modeling, printing, and casting in copper. The project, which commenced in November 2021 and completed in November 2022, faced challenges due to travel restrictions and lockdowns, causing delays in the manufacturing and construction processes.

Jeffrey Zee's visionary approach to design has earned him accolades, including the Silver A' Design Award in 2023 for Stonesal, recognizing the exceptional creativity and innovation demonstrated in this remarkable project. With over 100 completed projects for renowned companies, Jeffrey Zee continues to push the boundaries of design, blending international concepts with local needs and delivering unparalleled innovation in every endeavor.
