M+R Interior Architecture Introduces Chagall Lounge, a 1900 Square Meter Oasis of Art and Comfort at Terminal C

Hans Maréchal, the visionary designer behind M+R Interior Architecture, has unveiled the Chagall Lounge, a stunning 1900 square meter airport business lounge located in the new extension of Terminal C. Inspired by the life and art of Marc Chagall and the flowing movements of the Volga River, the lounge offers a unique and immersive experience for travelers. The lounge, with a capacity of 385 seats, is a testament to Maréchal's dedication to creating sustainable, organic, and visually striking environments.

The Chagall Lounge is a visual masterpiece, with walls that mimic the geological layers created by the wear of water flowing through the Volga River. These walls, adorned with indirect light lines, create a dramatic effect, while architectural columns showcase images of Chagall's paintings executed in glass mosaic. The lounge is visually divided with three accent colors from Chagall's paintings, offering a soothing and inviting ambiance.

Constructed using flame retardant medium density fibre board, the 3D walls incorporate built-in indirect LED lighting and special wallpaper to mimic geological layers. The ceiling and floor plan, representing the effect of water ingress, feature dynamic indirect LED lighting, while the columns are covered with glass mosaic images of Chagall's paintings in different colors.

Maréchal and his team overcame numerous challenges to bring the Chagall Lounge to life, including finding a balance between accommodating the requested amount of seating without creating a crowded atmosphere. The raised floors and organically formed space help to organize the lounge, providing a good overview while maintaining a sense of privacy for visitors.

With a focus on creating an attractive environment for time-sensitive travelers, the lounge offers easy navigation, personal space, and visual, acoustic, and tactile comfort. The seating, raised on islands, provides visitors with a feeling of control and a good overview of the lounge, ensuring a high-quality and relaxing experience.
