El Lissitzky Business Lounge: Redefining Airport Hospitality
Hans Maréchal, in collaboration with M+R interior architecture, presents the El Lissitzky Business Lounge, a 730 sqm. oasis of tranquility at the international airport of Moscow. Inspired by the works of El Lissitzky, the lounge's design reflects the artist's geometric shapes and the suprematist style, creating a timeless and innovative space for travelers.
The lounge's imposing ceiling, inspired by El Lissitzky's graphic art, represents direction and movement, while a large mirror wall at the end of the lounge creates an infinite visual effect. The sustainable design, realized using a 3D model, features sustainable materials and a special metal construction principle, ensuring both functionality and aesthetic appeal.
Despite the challenge of accommodating over 160 seats within a limited space, the lounge successfully integrates zoning and architectural columns to provide an open yet private space for relaxation, work, dining, and meetings. The design also meets high safety and fire protection standards, setting a new benchmark for airport lounges.
