Abaliss Sans: A Modern Typeface Family with Swiss Style Roots

Renowned designer Paul Robb introduces Abaliss Sans, a contemporary typeface family inspired by the shifting aesthetics of modernism. Influenced by the layout structures of design pioneers such as Emil Ruder, Weingart, and Hofman, Abaliss Sans embodies strong stylistic geometric contrasts, making it ideal for branding and communications projects.

Developed in Glyphs, the typeface family boasts a distinctive stance and wide-open counters, ensuring visual consistency across various applications. Each weight includes over 700 glyphs with stylistic letter and numeral sets, alternative glyphs, and discretionary ligatures, making it a versatile choice for designers.

The specimen was printed in CMYK with a special fluorescent green, adding a unique touch to this limited run. Abaliss Sans was initiated in 2022 and completed in 2023, following extensive research into early 20th-century fonts, from humanistic to geometric styles, to evolve its present forms.

Paul Robb, a Creative Director and Type designer with over 30 years of experience, is the mastermind behind this innovative typeface family. Based in Italy, his work has been exhibited worldwide, and he is known for his expressive and authentic design approach. Abaliss Sans has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in 2023, showcasing its outstanding and creatively ingenious design.
