Dragon Restaurant: Bringing Nature Underground

Zhenhua Luo's Dragon Restaurant is a remarkable project that brings the beauty of nature underground in the heart of Beijing's Financial Tech office building. The restaurant's design is inspired by the simulation of natural elements, with a focus on creating a relaxing atmosphere despite being located 80% underground without natural light.

The restaurant features a stunning concrete casting of a "waterfall" and "pool" using digital technology, along with a simulation of light and nature in the private dining rooms. The design team, including Zhenhua Luo, Gongpu Zhao, Yanli Zhang, Qianxuan Niu, Lin Yang, and Yongcheng Xia, overcame the challenge of the lack of natural light by creating a balance between Financial Tech and nature, providing a cozy and relaxing atmosphere for diners.

Despite being underground, the Dragon Restaurant offers a unique dining experience, with its simulation of light and nature creating a welcoming environment that has garnered acclaim and recognition, including the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2021.
