Mea'ad Al-Abboud Introduces "The Mask" Cafe

Renowned designer Mea'ad Al-Abboud has unveiled "The Mask" cafe, a unique concept inspired by the colorful masks of the Venetian Carnival, located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The project, which began in August 2022 and was completed in February 2023, features a luxurious black and gold interior design, spanning an indoor area of around 300 sqm and an outdoor area of approximately 180 sqm.

The main inspiration behind "The Mask" cafe stems from Al-Abboud's visit to Venice during the Venice Carnival, where she was captivated by the unique and vibrant masks that are an integral part of the event. Drawing parallels between Venice and Jeddah, Al-Abboud sought to create a concept that would stand out among other cafes in the city, infusing the luxurious and mysterious ambiance of the Venetian Carnival into the design of the cafe.

Utilizing materials sourced from the local market and importing furniture and decor elements from abroad, the cafe's interior features Italian masks from Venice, which were modified to suit the design concept. The masks serve as a distinctive backdrop for visitors to capture memorable moments, adding to the allure of the cafe.

Al-Abboud's meticulous planning and comprehensive design package ensured a smooth workflow, with the interior furniture and accessories being ordered in tandem with the construction work. The successful execution of the project within a six-month timeframe is a testament to the designer's attention to detail and strategic approach.

Recognized for her exceptional design prowess, Mea'ad Al-Abboud has been awarded the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2023 for "The Mask" cafe, a testament to the practical and innovative nature of the creation. The cafe's unique concept and execution have garnered acclaim, positioning it as a standout destination in Jeddah's vibrant cafe scene.
