RDS Introduces Gaaba, a Revolutionary Infant Cart for Disaster Prevention and Everyday Use

Rds, a leading design team, has unveiled Gaaba, a groundbreaking infant cart designed to serve as a dual-use product for disaster prevention and everyday childcare needs. Inspired by the need for reliable evacuation equipment in earthquake-prone Japan, Gaaba is a large stroller that enhances survivability during emergencies while reducing the burden on childcare workers in normal times.

Designed as a disaster prevention and evacuation device, Gaaba prioritizes safety and ease of use. It features improved rough road running ability and is equipped with large tires, additional steps, and grips to navigate rough terrain during evacuations. The frame is constructed using CFRP to minimize weight while maintaining structural integrity, making it an essential tool for protecting children in case of emergency.

With a focus on ergonomics, the design incorporates insights from motion analysis performed for the average physique of childcare workers. Gaaba's pushing handle is strategically positioned to ensure ease of use, further reducing the physical strain on caregivers. This innovative approach sets Gaaba apart from traditional infant carts, offering a practical solution for both daily use and emergency situations.

Rds Ltd., Co. has leveraged its expertise in developing lightweight, durable products from its experience in motor sports and collaboration with F1 team Scuderia AlphaTauri. The project, which commenced in August 2020 in Tokyo, Japan, involved collaboration with ONETABLE Inc., exiii design Inc., Yoshihiro Hirata R2, MAGNET Inc., makesense Inc., and quod, LLC, to bring Gaaba to life.
