FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Shenzhen Social: A Comprehensive Social Welfare Center for Children and the Elderly

SUIADR presents the Shenzhen Social Welfare Center, a pioneering project aimed at providing care for children and the elderly in Shenzhen, China. The center, designed by the Institute of Architectural Design and Research, Shenzhen University, and Z&Z Studio, is a multi-building complex that houses a children's home and an old people's home, sharing resources and embodying Lingnan artistic conception.

The project, completed in December 2016, stands as the largest comprehensive social welfare center in Shenzhen, covering an area of 32,269 sqm and featuring a unique courtyard combination that reflects the Lingnan-style architectural tradition. The center's design goal was to control costs, carry forward Lingnan features, and create a bright, spacious, and warm architectural hue with good ventilation.

The buildings are constructed with a focus on functionality and adaptability, with the medical building strategically located at the center for easy accessibility to both the children's home and the old people's home. The design emphasizes the separation of people and vehicles, with a vertical traffic distribution achieved via corridors. The main structure utilizes an ordinary reinforced concrete frame, ensuring durability and stability.
