QUAD studio introduces Light Portal, a groundbreaking project set to redefine the landscape of Yibin, China. The design, inspired by the geographical significance of the city, symbolizes a gateway to Yibin and a lighthouse for the Yangtze River. The project, located adjacent to Yibin High Speed Rail Station, comprises 160m tall mixed-use Twin Towers framing a 1km long landscape boulevard, aiming to create a colorful painting for this green ecological city.
Integrating architecture and nature, Light Portal is meticulously designed to shape new lifestyles for future residents of Highspeed Rail City. The project aims to maximize the use of underground spaces, incorporating a Botanic Educational Centre and a Sports Centre, in addition to car parking, due to the natural topography of the site.
Main construction materials for the project include steel, Low-e glass curtain wall, aluminum fins, stainless steel, limestone, and homogeneous tile. The design features a parametrically designed solar shading device and boasts a total Twin tower site area of 37390 square meters and a total project construction area of 15000 square meters.
Light Portal is a visionary project rooted in local Yibin culture, with the facade design, landscape design, and master planning revealing the distinct regional natural features and geographical significance. The project is a winner of the prestigious A' Design Award, recognized for its marvelous, outstanding, and trendsetting creations that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom.
