"Villages" - A Unique and Picturesque Ceramic Tableware

JiaYi Cai's "Villages" is a set of multifunctional ceramic tableware that transforms food into picturesque scenery, creating a warm and enjoyable dining scene. The set, made of high-temperature environmental protection porcelain, integrates with other tableware to form a unique sight, providing a new and interesting dining experience.

The production of "Villages" was completed in Jingdezhen, a city with a millennium of ceramic culture and history. The material is safe, nontoxic, and environmentally healthy, reflecting traditional Chinese aesthetics and culture.

The set's technical specifications include dimensions of 25.0cm wide, 25.0cm high, and 3.0cm high temperature environmental protection porcelain, crafted through material selection, molding, glazing, and burning processes.

JiaYi Cai, along with a multidisciplinary design team, aimed to create a user-friendly and pleasant dining scene with "Villages." The set of removable ceramic suits seasoning bottles can be used in arbitrary combinations, allowing users to define the service functions, such as placing them on a plate or with ornamentation, to bring warmth and joy to the users.

The project, which started in August 2018 in Macao and finished in November 2018 in Jingdezhen, China, has not been exhibited yet. The design research focused on creating functional decorative items that enhance the dining experience with practicality and aesthetics, aiming to better inherit and promote traditional Chinese culture.

"Villages" was awarded Bronze in the A' Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware, and Cookware Design Award in 2020, recognizing its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that contributes to quality of life improvements.
