Discover the unique integration of natural wood logs and modern living in Taichung City, Taiwan
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Award-winning designers Tzu-Yi Yang and Chun Chun Yang have created a modern residential space that seamlessly integrates the client's love for logs and traditional crafts into a contemporary living environment. The project, completed in September 2018, is a testament to the designers' ability to blend natural elements with modern design, resulting in a unique and visually stunning living space.
The most striking feature of the project is the prominent use of 1.2-meter diameter, 3.6-meter long wood logs purchased by the client. These logs are prominently displayed throughout the 117-square meter interior, creating a cozy and natural ambiance. The design team utilized a combination of iron elements, glass, and other materials to complement the natural texture of the logs, resulting in a harmonious and inviting living space.
One of the key challenges of the project was effectively incorporating the massive wood logs into the design. The team overcame this obstacle by meticulously calculating and utilizing the logs, ensuring their safety, reducing visual heaviness, and maintaining a smooth construction process. The result is a stunning display of the logs' value and uniqueness, showcased in elements such as the TV cabinet table board.
Tzu-Yi Yang and Chun Chun Yang's design approach focused on creating a barrier-free environment, with the innermost room transformed into a tatami room to enhance natural light and provide a space for the client and their family to enjoy. The overall spatial aesthetics reflect the client's personality and preferences, presenting a bright and clean lifestyle while highlighting the beauty of the logs.
The project was awarded the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2020, recognizing its well-designed, practical, and innovative nature that meets professional and industrial requirements. The design's successful integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics contributes to a better world, earning it this esteemed accolade.
