Award-winning designers Tzu-Yi Yang and Chun Chun Yang transform a terrace house into a pet-friendly, commercial and living space combined, emphasizing natural light and smooth flow.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
In November 2019, Tzu-Yi Yang and Chun Chun Yang completed the transformation of a terrace house into the Glowing House in Taichung, Taiwan. The project aimed to bring natural light into the entire house and create a smooth flow, emphasizing the separation of public and private areas.
The Glowing House is a unique residential project that combines commercial and living spaces, prioritizing a pet-friendly environment. The design features transparent sliding doors in the open kitchen to maintain permeability while blocking cooking fumes. The overall design uses a simple modern style with black, white, and grey color tones, complemented by warm hardwood veneer to create a homey feeling.
The project, winner of the Iron A' Design Award in 2021, successfully overcame challenges such as reorganizing old electric wires and water pipes, and the absence of essential spaces like a bathroom and balcony. The designers' focus on rearranging the flow of the space and altering the direction of doors resulted in a well-defined separation of public and private areas, providing the clients with a better living quality.
