Modern Residential Design Filled with Cypress Treasures

Yu-Shan Liu's award-winning design project, "The Woody Aroma of Cypress," is a modern residential flat located in the heart of Taipei, Taiwan. Inspired by the owner's wood sculpture art treasures, the 225 square meters apartment exudes openness and elegance, filled with the aroma of cypress wood and stone. The project, completed in January 2022, seamlessly blends natural materials and collections to create a space that reflects the owner's character and geographical environment.

The unique feature of this design lies in the incorporation of the client's precious historical "Formosan Cypress" treasures, both decoratively and practically. The project took 8 months to complete, combining the client's expectations with modern design elements, resulting in a space that exudes warmth, elegance, and practicality.

The core of the flat features a rare Tiffany Blue Marble from Brazil, creating an elegant vibe and upgrading the space. Wood is used extensively throughout the apartment, from the ceiling to the floor, providing both beauty and practicality. The wood cabinetry, cypress dining table, and various wood elements throughout the flat offer a natural and humanistic atmosphere, symbolizing solidity and warmth.

Yu-Shan Liu's design project faced the challenge of incorporating a significant amount of wood into a modern, uncluttered space. However, the result is a stunning residential flat that seamlessly integrates natural materials and modern design, creating a space that resonates with the owner's emotional connection to family and geographical environment.
