The Monmono Blue project, designed by Alvan Suen, is a captivating fusion of art, vintage, and monochrome, located in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong, completed in April 2022.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Monmono Blue project by Alvan Suen is a revolutionary concept that combines a restaurant, gallery, and art piece, fully finished in regal blue. The design draws inspiration from the idea of a monochrome city inserted into the bustling urban context of Hong Kong, creating a surreal and entertaining contrast. The project aims to position itself as an urban art insertion expressing its obsession with monochrome, offering a novel and surreal feeling of being in the world of art.
With a focus on montage, monochrome, and monogram, Monmono Blue seamlessly integrates various realistic vintage scenes and architecture into the abstract world of blue, creating a unique art piece in the city. The vintage car, realistic worldwide vintage scenes, and architecture are combined to emphasize the playfulness of monochrome design, offering visitors a mysterious, calm, and elegant ambiance.
The project, covering a total area of 1464 sq.ft. with a capacity of 50, features a layout divided into four sections: private room (Hotel), semi-private room (Retail), high stool table (Casino), and main dining area (Piazza). Each section provides clear zoning for operation while offering a diverse seating experience. The project was started in January 2022 and completed in April 2022.
The Monmono Blue project presents a unique platform for local artists to exchange ideas and exhibit their monochrome artwork, inspiring and improving the local art scene. The design overcame various creative, technical, and research challenges, including sourcing materials for the monochrome theme and addressing lighting temperature considerations.
Alvan Suen, the Managing Director and founder of Nameless Hong Kong Limited, is the creative mind behind the Monmono Blue project. His innovative approach and dedication to environmental design have earned him the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2023, showcasing outstanding expertise and innovation in interior space, retail, and exhibition design.
