Authentic Furniture Series Blends Craftsmanship and Modern Design

Fulden Topaloglu, an engineer turned designer, has unveiled the Sama furniture series at Design Week Turkey, drawing inspiration from the poetry of whirling costumes worn in Sama ceremonies. The collection, produced in Istanbul, stands at the intersection of craft production and modern design, aiming to unite craftsmanship traditions of the past and modern aesthetics of the present.

Sama is an authentic furniture series that provides functionality through simple, yet striking and sculptural forms. The design plays with the geometry of conic sections and makes use of metal bending processes to reinterpret cultural inspiration through minimal forms that provide a unique touch to living spaces. The series offers customization according to user needs through alternatives in veneers, colors, and dimensions.

Produced through a combination of industrial and craft production processes, the Sama series features metal bending processes for the legs and solid wood parts that are laser cut, shaped, and veneered by local craftsmen. The furniture pieces are designed to provide ease of use, cleaning, and easy disassembly for renewal and recycling.
