Introducing Cotton Spate, a console designed by Daisuke Nagatomo and Minnie Jan, inspired by the purity of the organic Pima cotton flower, exclusively used by the brand. Crafted with a three-dimensional wavy surface and circular metal plates, this console emphasizes product importance and purity.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Cotton Spate console, designed by Daisuke Nagatomo and Minnie Jan, is a unique creation inspired by the organic Pima cotton flower. The design reflects the purity of the flower, which grows by the lake in Peru, and aims to emphasize the importance of the products it showcases.
Unlike typical pop-up store consoles, the Cotton Spate minimizes the number of products on display to maintain a clean and organized presentation, allowing the products to shine and captivate customers' interest.
The console is crafted using high-density foam for the wavy surface, hand-crafted to achieve a three-dimensional effect. The circular metal plates and the counter are additional features that contribute to the unique aesthetic of the console.
Measuring 375cm in length, 90cm in width, and 100cm in height, the console offers a spacious yet focused display area for the products.
The design process for Cotton Spate began in July, with construction completed in September, and the public launch taking place in October 2019. The project was realized in Taipei, where the pop-up store for Olivia Yves London is located.
One of the main challenges faced during the project was finding cost-effective ways to create the three-dimensional surface of the console. The designers overcame budget limitations by incorporating traditional craftsmanship to achieve the desired effect, rather than relying on expensive digital fabrication methods.
Daisuke Nagatomo, the co-designer of Cotton Spate, is an accomplished architect with a background in advanced architectural design. He has received recognition for his work, including the prestigious A' Design Award for Furniture Design in 2020.
