FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Superhero: A Multi-Sensory Interactive Pop-Up Book for Children's COVID-19 Education

Can Zhu's Superhero is a pop-up book designed to publicize COVID-19-related knowledge among children, combining pop-up paper books with electronic circuits to engage children in a vivid story about superheroes fighting monsters, helping them understand abstract scientific knowledge.

Laser cutting is used for rapid production iterations of paper parts, with electronic components connected by copper tape, creating a unique form of multi-sensory interaction for children to better understand immune cells fighting viruses.

Superhero, with dimensions of 260mm x 225mm x 50mm, was created in Ningbo, China from November 2020 and is now located in Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China since May 2021.

The project underwent usability tests and iterations based on feedback, addressing challenges in paper structure and circuit stability. It has been recognized by teachers and popular among young children, winning the Iron A' Design Award in 2022.
