Amrta: Redefining Business Space with Tranquility

Simeng Yao's Amrta project redefines the traditional concept of a business space by infusing it with elements of tranquility and relaxation. The design utilizes light, aroma, and music to create a serene ambiance that offers a moment of respite in a bustling commercial environment. The space features an artistic and abstract presentation of mountain views, achieved through a large linear installation using soft nylon threads. The use of even and clean lighting blurs the boundaries of the walls, visually opening up the space and promoting a sense of calm.

What sets Amrta apart is its multi-dimensional interpretation of the new space, focusing on "silence," "release," and "intention." The smart lighting system allows for adjustable light and color temperature, adapting to changes in weather and further enhancing the overall experience. Despite budget constraints, the project achieved remarkable results by sourcing cost-effective yet environmentally friendly materials, demonstrating the designer's commitment to both creativity and sustainability.

Located in Chongqing, China, the 334-square-meter space accommodates 20 beds, offering a unique blend of functionality and artistic expression. The project, which commenced in September 2019 and concluded in February 2020, draws inspiration from Chinese mountain scenery and ink painting, seamlessly integrating traditional elements with modern design sensibilities.
