Escudellers Renovation Project Showcases Unique Design and Preservation Efforts

In the heart of Barcelona's historic center, architect Jofre Roca Calaf has completed the transformation of a 1840s building on the iconic Escudellers street into a one-of-a-kind residential space. The project, awarded Bronze in A' Design Award 2020, seamlessly blends traditional construction techniques with contemporary interpretations, offering a unique living experience.

The renovation prioritized the preservation and restoration of original building elements, including moldings and patios, while introducing modern design elements to enhance natural lighting and create a serene retreat from the city's hustle and bustle. The 104 sqm space features high ceilings, open spaces, and meticulously crafted moldings that redefine the boundaries of traditional design.

With a focus on materiality, light, and context, Jofre Roca Calaf's architectural approach has resulted in a project that not only adds value to the historical significance of the building but also contributes to the wellbeing of its future inhabitants.
