Award-winning designer Juan Eugenio Mallo Camera creates a new brand system to unify two independent gas station networks in Brazil, representing transformation, hope, and renewal.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
In a groundbreaking project, Juan Eugenio Mallo Camera, in collaboration with Diego Adrián Beas, has developed a new brand system, Borboleta, to unify the Dislub and Equador gas station networks in Brazil. The main inspiration behind Borboleta was the symbolism of a butterfly, representing powerful transformation, change, hope, and renewal. The challenge was to create a single logo for two related yet independent and distinct brands, using color, shapes, and a shared graphic structure to achieve unity while maintaining individual identities.
The design team utilized a module-based grid to construct the logo, resulting in a smooth and well-shaped design. The isotype, resembling the silhouette of the Brazilian territory, and the unique color purple, symbolizing the union of the two companies, set Borboleta apart in the gas station market. By sharing the same symbol, the new brand system establishes a clear link between Dislub and Equador, creating a unified identity that connects both companies in the consumers' minds.
The project, which began in the second quarter of 2017, was completed and approved by the Dislub Equador Board of Directors in December of the same year. The design team continued working on the applications of the new brand throughout the first quarter of 2018, ensuring a seamless transition for both companies.
