Vanke City Growth Hall: A Fusion of History and Modernity

More Design Office (MDO) has successfully transformed the old state-run Hongguang electronic tube factory into a vibrant sales center known as Vanke City Growth Hall. The project, located in the eastern suburb memory of Chengdu, China, is a testament to the fusion of history and modernity. The design draws inspiration from the factory's past, incorporating elements of the original oscilloscopes and kinescopes produced for the military, and infusing the space with a burst of energy, symbolizing the "big bang of knowledge."

The project prioritizes a seamless transition between old and new, introducing contrasting objects that blur the boundaries between architecture and landscape. This approach creates a new social dialogue with the city and a vibrant mixed-use program, breathing new life into the historic site.

Spanning across 2970 square meters, the Vanke City Growth Hall stands as a testament to urban renewal, modern design, and a unique blend of exhibition and commercial spaces. The project, led by Directors Justin Bridgland and Jaycee Chui, is a stunning example of architectural innovation and creative revitalization.
