Renowned designer Chen Bingrou has unveiled a groundbreaking womenswear collection, Cocle, challenging traditional fashion norms with a unique approach to design. Inspired by the desire to make high fashion accessible and sustainable, Cocle is a collection of five distinct looks, each entirely crafted from rubber rings using a revolutionary weaving technique. The project, which commenced in February 2020 and concluded in September 2020 in Guangzhou, represents a significant leap forward in eco-friendly and innovative fashion design.

Bingrou's vision for Cocle was born out of the aspiration to democratize fashion and reduce waste in the industry. The collection's key strength lies in its use of a new weaving technique specifically tailored for annular materials, allowing for the creation of intricate, wearable designs without compromising the integrity of the materials. This approach not only ensures that all rubber rings within the garments remain intact and reusable but also enables individuals without weaving experience to create their own clothing using this innovative craft.

Recognizing the importance of material exploration, Bingrou's research led her to experiment with non-clothing materials, seeking to expand the possibilities of fashion design. Overcoming the creative and technical challenges of integrating these unconventional materials into textile, she successfully combined rubber rings in a purely handcrafted manner, resulting in a collection that blurs the line between clothing and non-clothing materials.
