Revolutionizing Business Card Storage with "Empty" Card Case
The "Empty" card case, designed by SONG LIU and LEI WANG, challenges the ordinary with its innovative approach to business card storage. Crafted from aviation alloy material, the card case features a unique negative shape that showcases the core of the product - the name card. Its parametric design allows for easy access to the cards, meeting global standards for name card sizes.
Utilizing die-casting molding and CNC precision milling, the "Empty" card case boasts a sandblasted, oxidized surface finish, adding to its industrial appeal. Weighing just 0.031kg and measuring 50mm in width, 15mm in depth, and 120mm in height, this design is a perfect blend of form and function.
Starting in March 2017 and concluding in September 2018 in Beijing, the "Empty" card case project saw SONG LIU and LEI WANG overcoming challenges, including the introduction of parametric design and the adoption of new tools within the design team. Their dedication and innovation were recognized with the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in 2020, solidifying the impact of their creation.
