Jolab: Redefining Beauty Factory as Art Gallery

Chih-Kang Chu's Jolab is a revolutionary concept that transforms a skincare factory into an art gallery, aiming to create a space where employees feel like they are part of an art center rather than a production line. The building, designed as an art gallery, features a double-tiered garden and a unique art performance space, providing a unique and inspiring environment for both employees and visitors.

The design incorporates innovative technologies to ensure a comfortable working environment, including strategic sun path calculations to minimize direct sunlight and the use of heat-resistant materials for seamless wall surfaces. The integration of a hanging garden and aerial walkways allows visitors to observe the production process from a unique vantage point, fostering transparency and a sense of honor for the employees.

With a focus on transparency and honoring the brand's spirit, Jolab aims to showcase the skincare production process as a form of art, emphasizing honesty, high quality, and the brand's entrepreneurial spirit. The project received the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2021, recognizing its outstanding innovation and excellence in design.
