Reshaping a 20-Year-Old House into a Modern Haven

Lin Feng-An's "Leading By Light" project is a remarkable transformation of a 20-year-old house in Taiwan. The house, which had been empty for three years, was restructured and renovated to become a heartfelt marriage present from a mother to her daughter. The interior design concept revolves around a simple life, with light running through and filling the entire space, bringing new life to the old house.

The redesign utilized an open style to create a transparent and spacious view in the common space. Full-height windows and a glass partition in the study room allow sunlight to permeate the entire space, creating a warm and inviting residential environment.

The space, spanning approximately 151 square feet, features a layered design using materials such as glass, wood brick, wood, iron, and brick wall, along with system cabinets. Lin Feng-An's unique aesthetic of living is showcased through the arrangement of materials, colors, light sources, and lines, all in perfect harmony.

Despite being a 20-year-old house, the project involved restructuring and improving the waterproof system, structure, and basic infrastructure such as pipelines. The design process focused on shaping the environment while incorporating elements of humanity and life aesthetics, resulting in a space that seamlessly blends the old and the new.

To address the challenge of lighting, the space features a predominantly white background with wood-tone materials for displays and furniture. The design presents an unrestrained and generous interior, offering a sense of openness and freedom.

Lin Feng-An's "Leading By Light" project was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2020 for its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that authentically embodies experience and resourcefulness. This prestigious accolade recognizes the project's strong technical and creative skills, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
