Studio Yimu's founder, Ryan Chung, introduces a unique and interactive tea shop design inspired by Canada's landscape, catering to a younger demographic, completed in August 2018.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Studio Yimu, led by Ryan Chung, has unveiled a groundbreaking flagship tea shop design at Toronto's Eaton Centre. Inspired by the Canadian landscape, the design replicates the free-flowing silhouette of the famous Blue Mountain, creating an unconventional and interactive seating area for a new customer experience. The store, located on the first floor of the mall, features a wide and welcoming entrance, aiming to become a hotspot for shoppers to gather and meet.
The flagship store is strategically situated in Canada's busiest shopping mall, Eaton Centre, making it the first store outside of the subway on the first floor and a prime location for this type of business. The design incorporates a harmonious combination of locally sourced Canadian ashwood, creating a clean and refreshing environment for customers to enjoy their beverages.
The project, completed in August 2018, spans 139sqm and features a 3D millwork sculpture and a clear, minimalist entrance to maximize an open concept. The design aims to capture the first perception of the store, leading customers in a fluid motion through the space. The millwork sculpture, handcrafted with 100% locally sourced Canadian ashwood, is an interactive seating area designed to organize and direct customer traffic.
Studio Yimu's design was awarded the Silver A' Design Award in 2021, recognizing its outstanding expertise and innovation in interior space, retail, and exhibition design. The project's unique blend of functionality and artistry is a testament to the studio's commitment to creating extraordinary modern spaces that inspire creativity.
