Estudio Maba, a design team based in Murcia, Spain, has unveiled their latest creation, the "Codice" wine bottle design. Drawing inspiration from classic codex books, the design encapsulates the winery's symbols and history, offering a timeless and dedicated piece that exudes expressiveness and artistry.
The "Codice" design stands out with its use of reliefs and stamping on sealed vegetal paper, reminiscent of manuscripts in books prior to the invention of the printing press. The label, measuring 140 x 120 mm, features large embossed drop cap letters, creating a delicate and sensory surface that almost appears sculpted on paper. The outer packaging showcases a captivating illustration depicting the vintage and elements of the family heraldic shield, offering a classic and colorful narrative.
From June 2019 to January 2020, the Estudio Maba team, including Beatriz Suárez, Miguel Angel del Baño, Jose Lorente, Borja Torres, and La Industrial, worked on bringing the "Codice" design to life. Extensive research into ancient codex books was conducted to define the style and understand the hierarchies of the elements, contributing to the rich and meaningful illustrations adorning the bottle.
The "Codice" wine bottle design has received acclaim, earning the prestigious Golden A' Design Award in 2020. This recognition celebrates the remarkable creativity and impact of the design, reflecting Estudio Maba's prodigy and wisdom in the realm of packaging design.
