Adel Badrawy Unveils "The Hub" - A Modern Mixed-Use Building in Al Riyadh

Adel Badrawy's latest project, "The Hub," is a mixed-use building in the heart of Al Riyadh, KSA, drawing inspiration from the traditional souq in the Middle East. The project, which commenced in March 2019, is a contemporary interpretation of the old market, offering retail, dining, and office spaces under one roof, reminiscent of the authentic urban experience of a souq.

The Hub is a 20,000 m2 project, efficiently distributing 10,100 m2 of rentable indoor and outdoor areas, 2,400 m2 of service areas, and 8,400 m2 of outdoor and landscape area. It features restaurants, small retail shops, a recreational area for the youth, and office spaces, each with its own accessibility and experience, all under one roof.

The project overcame challenges related to privacy levels for different functions, cultural considerations, and the hot, dry climate of the region. The design team created bridges between buildings, roof gardens, and terraces, providing an authentic urban experience while addressing the comfort and climate needs of the users.

Adel Badrawy's "The Hub" has been recognized with an Iron A' Design Award in 2021, acknowledging its well-designed, practical, and innovative approach that meets professional and industrial requirements.
