Award-winning architect Nima Keivani introduces a groundbreaking villa designed for co-existence between humans and birds, blending biophilic architecture with Iranian historical influences.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Nima Keivani, an award-winning Iranian architect, has unveiled "Kabootar Khaneh," a groundbreaking villa designed to foster co-existence between humans and birds. Inspired by Iranian historical dovecotes, the villa offers a unique space where people can live alongside birds, creating a harmonious environment for both. The design incorporates a part of the interior space dedicated to the birds, surrounded by transparent materials, and features a minimalist, cubic form with a hidden sloping roof. The villa's construction utilized recycled old wood and local sedimentary rocks, emphasizing sustainability and integration with the natural surroundings.
One of the key features of Kabootar Khaneh is its innovative approach to biophilic architecture, providing a space for enhanced interaction with nature. The design focuses on creating a visual relationship between light and shadow, as well as integrating elements of traditional Iranian architecture to establish a seamless connection with the natural world. The villa's interior spaces are carefully arranged around a central patio where birds reside, incorporating cross-sectional play and level differences to enhance the overall experience.
The design team faced significant challenges in creating an atmosphere that promotes coexistence between humans and birds while maintaining the independence, peace, and security of both. Additionally, the project was executed within a limited budget, leading to a minimalist yet impactful design. Kabootar Khaneh has been recognized with the prestigious Bronze A' Design Award in 2021, celebrating its innovative and creative approach to architectural design.
