FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Transparency: Redefining Minimalism in Residential Interior Design

Renowned architect Li-Yu Cheng's latest project, "Transparency," challenges conventional notions of minimalism in residential interior design. The project, completed in Taipei City from June to September 2020, has been awarded the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2021, recognizing its outstanding innovation and expertise.

Aiming to create an airy, see-through, light-weight living space, "Transparency" is a conceptual masterpiece that delves into the metaphysical aspects of habitation. The design integrates massing, proportion, and penetration to form a three-dimensional framework, with the wall serving as a functional carrier for essential fixtures of daily living, covered with bent stainless steel that refracts natural light, adding an enchanting touch to the space.

Challenged by limited space, the design team overcame technical obstacles by tailor-making wire shelving on-site, resulting in an asymmetrical yet powerful massing with practical functions. The project reunites seeming contradictions among curves and angles, polished steels and concrete cements, culminating in a moderate fusion that embodies the essence of minimalism.

Li-Yu Cheng, the visionary behind "Transparency," is a lecturer at the Interior Design Department in Chung Yuan Christian University, Taiwan, and the founder of StudioX4. With a dedication to modernist architectures and contemporary spatial design, Cheng's work reflects a remarkable level of excellence, innovation, and positive impact on the design community.
