Cassiopeia: A Poetic Interpretation of Recycled Glass

Finnish glass artist Sini Majuri introduces Cassiopeia, a sculpture that embodies the timeless beauty of recycled glass. The sculpture, showcased at Venice Glass Week 2020, is a poetic interpretation of the contrast between recycled and valuable materials, reflecting Scandinavian aesthetics through organic surfaces that mimic the nature of melting ice.

Majuri's creation is a testament to the potential of recycled glass material, as the impure glass that would have otherwise ended up in a landfill is transformed into a captivating piece of art. Each sculpture is meticulously crafted from mouth-blown studio glass, shaped by hand to evoke the weightless yet strong nature of glass and its ability to capture the deepness of the universe through the lenses of a telescope and the smallest details of life in the microscopic world.

Measuring 150 cm x 50 cm x 30 cm, Cassiopeia is a unique representation of the artist's dedication to sustainability and creativity. Majuri's work has been recognized with the Bronze A' Design Award in Fine Arts and Art Installation Design, showcasing her exceptional ability to merge art, science, design, and technology to contribute to quality of life improvements.
