FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Cristina Menezes presents the Glass House, a groundbreaking residential project entirely constructed with Reflective Laminated Glass, catering to the desires of a young couple in Belo Horizonte, Brazil. The house, completed in July 2015, offers a small, loft-like space fully integrated with nature, featuring a short building time, low cost, flexibility for future modifications, and sustainability principles.
This innovative design is characterized by its unique properties, including full integration with nature, sustainability, and mobility. The Glass House is built with Reflective Laminated Glass, providing protection against UV rays and thermal insulation, ensuring energy efficiency and well-being for the residents.
The construction of the Glass House is based on modular design, minimizing waste and allowing for future modifications. The use of reflective glass creates an interaction between the interior and exterior during the day, while ensuring privacy at night through innovative lighting and blinds. The project also seamlessly blends into the landscape, offering a unique and harmonious architectural experience.
Architectural assistants Lais Laine and Roberta Antunes, along with administrative assistant Jackie Kelly, were part of the design team that contributed to the realization of the Glass House.
To achieve the design's goals, extensive research was conducted to select the right materials, ensuring a healthy and sustainable living environment. The project overcame numerous creative, technical, and research challenges to deliver a unique, innovative, and functional residential space.
Cristina Menezes Architecture, founded in 1990, has gained international recognition for its exceptional architectural and interior design projects, with the Glass House being awarded the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in 2018.
