Keymotif: A Fusion of Tradition and Modernity

Keymotif is a unique key holder designed by Vassilis Mylonadis, drawing inspiration from the motifs found on textiles produced by a traditional loom. This innovative design aims to bring hidden aspects of history into our everyday lives through functional and decorative items.

The key holder set includes a wall mount unit and two key holders, which, when removed from their base, create a colored footprint, symbolizing one's presence or absence from home or office.

Constructed from laser-cut okoume wood and white plexiglass, Keymotif represents a fusion of tradition and modernity. The meticulous design process involved fine-tuning to achieve the desired result, resulting in a well-balanced product with a profound reference to Greece's recent past.

Keymotif made its debut at the "It's all, oh so souvenir to me, Parousies 2017" exhibition in Athens, Greece, after a design process that began in October 2016 and concluded in December 2016.

The designer, Vassilis Mylonadis, aimed to simplify the intricate motifs created on textiles by traditional loom users, translating them into objects for everyday life. The transition from folklore to the present led to the selection of okoume plywood and plexiglass as the primary materials, resulting in a design that encapsulates Greece's rich cultural heritage.

Keymotif has been recognized with the Iron A' Design Award in 2017, celebrating its practicality, innovation, and integration of industry best practices. This unique key holder is a testament to Vassilis Mylonadis' vision of designing functional and emotionally engaging objects that enrich everyday life.
