Gerardo RÃos Altamirano's Aero Bookcase
Gerardo RÃos Altamirano introduces the Aero Bookcase, drawing inspiration from the aerodynamic forms of 1920's airplanes. The bookcase, a fusion of art and functionality, embodies the adventurous spirit of that era.
The Aero Bookcase features helix-shaped legs and a structure reminiscent of early airplanes, with three shelves of laminated colored glass that reflect light in various tones. Crafted with solid Tzalam wood and natural oak, the bookcase stands at 1600mm high, 945mm wide, and 415mm deep.
RÃos' design process began in September 2016 at the G.RIOS Furniture Factory in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, culminating in December 2016. The piece was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2017 for its innovative and practical design.
