STARH Unveils Royal River: A Modern Residential Building

STARH presents Royal River, a striking 75-meter high residential building, featuring integrated sustainable technologies and high-class cladding and glazing systems. The project, located in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, is a testament to innovation and sophistication in architectural design.

The design of Royal River is inspired by the urban typology of Plovdiv, with the Maritsa River playing a central role in the facade design and corporate identity of the project. The building's unique features include a sustainable HVAC system, waste collection system, and maximized glazing for each apartment, ensuring longevity and low maintenance over time.

Utilizing freeform and soft corners as balconies, Royal River incorporates large-scale aluminum honeycomb panels and bended glass, creating a distinctive visual impact. The building stands out as the second highest in the city, strategically located on the green axis connecting the Rowing Canal and Bunardzhika Hill, making it a prominent landmark in the surroundings.

The project's design phase commenced in 2021, with a focus on integrating urban and geographical context, as well as the moire effect to achieve a higher visual impact and height impression. Despite facing challenges in meeting developer requirements and detailed program for a premium residential building, Royal River emerged as the winner in a private competition among leading studios in the country.

STARH, founded by Bulgarian architect Svetoslav Stanislavov, has established itself as a notable figure in contemporary architecture, with a portfolio of completed projects that reflect a balance between aesthetics, functionality, and quality. The studio's commitment to innovation and quality has earned them international acclaim, including prestigious awards such as the A' Design Award.
