Daniel da Hora's "Cats in a Box" campaign creatively addresses the surge in abandoned cats during the pandemic, debunking myths and promoting adoption while raising funds for a local NGO. The project commenced in October 2021 in São Paulo, Brazil, and continues to impact society through its ongoing product sales.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Daniel da Hora's "Cats in a Box" campaign was inspired by the surge in abandoned animals, particularly cats, during and after the pandemic in Brazil. The campaign aimed to debunk myths about cats transmitting COVID-19 and promote adoption through a creative marketing and communication strategy.
The campaign utilized digital illustrations created using Procreate software on an iPad Pro 12, which were then featured on posters, print materials, and social media assets. Additionally, a line of products including mugs, decorative plates, ecobags, and tees was developed and sold at a charity bazaar, resulting in a significant success.
Technical specifications for the campaign materials included various sizes for posters, printing ads, and social media posts, all designed to maximize the impact of the campaign across different platforms.
The "Cats in a Box" campaign involved extensive research, including qualitative interviews, surveys, and desk research, to understand the abandoned animal situation in Brazil post-pandemic. Insights from the research informed the campaign's messaging and product development, effectively challenging societal beliefs and fostering a more informed and compassionate community.
Daniel da Hora, a renowned designer and visual artist from Brazil, spearheaded the "Cats in a Box" campaign, which was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2024 for its innovative and impactful approach to addressing a pressing societal issue.
