Introducing the Circle of Life Residence Design by JEFF HSU and HOWARD LIU, Winner of the Bronze A' Design Award
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Circle of Life Residence, a project by JEFF HSU and HOWARD LIU, is a modern and harmonious living space that seamlessly integrates the concept of family reunion with the natural elements of sparkling water and mountains. The design, located in New Taipei City, Taiwan, was initiated in July 2019 and completed in February 2020.
The design's unique feature lies in the use of circular elements to transform space, creating a double circle living room and incorporating circular movement and software to connect various aspects of the residence. The space is characterized by circular movement, ironware, and different materials that contribute to its modern simplicity and quality.
The designers utilized circular elements to enrich the meaning of reunion, decorating each space with natural imagery, such as mountains, sun, and rivers. The use of circular elements not only enhances the aesthetics but also ensures safety, especially for young children living in the space.
One of the notable challenges overcome in the design was the creation of a staircase without external supports, resembling the image of a flowing river. This required meticulous planning and the use of embedded iron parts to ensure both safety and visual appeal.
The Circle of Life Residence was honored with the Bronze A' Design Award in 2021 for its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that authentically captures experience and resourcefulness. This prestigious award recognizes the technical and creative skills of the designers and their contribution to improving the quality of life through innovative design.
