Design Unveiled: A Modern Interpretation of Traditional Chinese Elements

studio revo and fineland architecture have unveiled the Fineland Heshan Community Center, a recreation space that draws inspiration from traditional Chinese handheld fans and architectural elements. The design features abstract interpretations of fan leaves, creating a visually unified space with a profound hierarchy. The restaurant, influenced by traditional Chinese eaves, boasts stainless steel ceilings and green-gray toned brick walls, complemented by transparent glass surfaces to bring in natural light. The project integrates modern materials such as marble, stainless steel, and wood veneer, covering an area of 1000 square meters.

The project, which began in May 2019 and was completed in November 2019, is located in Heshan, Guangdong Province, China. The design team's research focused on the city's historical and natural elements, including the Chinese fan, moon, and ancient construction eave, as well as the city's young population. The fusion of honored tradition and modern aesthetics presented creative and technical challenges, which were overcome through the integration of modern methods and materials to soften the impact of high spaces and define novel structures.

The Fineland Heshan Community Center has been recognized with the prestigious Platinum A' Design Award in 2020, showcasing unmatched professionalism and contributing to societal wellbeing. The project is a testament to the fusion of notable Chinese traditions with modern beauty-appreciation and lifestyle, reflecting the trend of combining multiple functional sections into a unified space for enhanced customer experience and management operation.
