FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Tai Chen's Innovative Design for X5 Charity Foundation

Tai Chen has designed a compound space for the X5 Charity Foundation, featuring an office area, podcast studio, hidden lounge, wine cellar, and outdoor balcony with a contemporary water feature. The design incorporates the "X" symbol, representing multiplication and connection, throughout the space, using metal and lighting techniques to create a unique and futuristic environment.

The project, completed in February 2021, is a makeover of an old building in Taipei, transformed into a modern space that serves as an office for the charity foundation and a venue for exhibitions and gatherings.

The design team faced challenges in creating a complex space that meets diverse needs while maintaining connectivity and transparency. However, through innovative techniques and effective teamwork, they successfully overcame these challenges.

Inspired by the character "X," the design features linear lighting and metal elements that extend from the outdoor terrace to the indoor areas, as well as from the first-floor ceiling to the basement lounge. The space is designed to be versatile, serving as an office, exhibition area, seminar space, studio, lounge bar, and meeting space for various needs.

The project was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2022, recognizing its practicality, innovation, and contribution to a better world.
