Xiangzhi Zhao's "Morning Dew" is a regenerated ring designed with a focus on environmental protection and innovative material recovery methods. The project began in Beijing in 2018, applied for a technology patent in early 2019, and was completed in 2019. The ring, made entirely from a green precious metal recovery method, was awarded Bronze in A' Jewelry Design Award in 2020.
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Xiangzhi Zhao's "Morning Dew" ring stands out for its innovative approach to material recovery. The design focuses on using an original and greener method to recover precious metals, specifically gold and silver, from electronic waste. The ring is made from regenerated gold and silver, prepared using an environmentally friendly method that emphasizes the reuse of treatment liquid to reduce waste water production.
The unique properties of "Morning Dew" lie in its commitment to sustainability and resource recovery. By utilizing an amine-containing porous material to adsorb selected metal ions, the design achieves a more environmentally friendly method of recovering precious metals, addressing the growing concern of electronic waste and its impact on the environment.
The realization technology behind "Morning Dew" involves the copolymerization of 4,4'-(hexachloroisopropyl) bisphenol with melamine in an alkaline solution to create the amine-containing porous material. This material can absorb selected metal ions in the solution, allowing for the reuse of treatment liquid and minimizing waste water production.
The "Morning Dew" ring measures 20mm in width, 20mm in depth, and 4mm in height, emphasizing both grace and environmental protection in its design. It serves as a testament to the potential of new materials and artistic expression in the realm of sustainable jewelry design.
The design interaction of "Morning Dew" revolves around the concept of utilizing regenerated gold and silver from electronic waste, highlighting the value of reusing such materials. Xiangzhi Zhao's vision for the ring is to guide efforts in reducing resource waste and promoting resource recovery, shedding light on the importance of addressing electronic waste in a creative and sustainable manner.
Xiangzhi Zhao's "Morning Dew" project was completed in Beijing in 2019 and was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Jewelry Design category in 2020. This recognition highlights the design's outstanding and creatively ingenious approach, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology to contribute to quality of life improvements.
