Hans-Petter Bjørnådal's Selfors is a remarkable rehabilitation project that breathes new life into a 1960s modernist villa, integrating natural ventilation principles and upcycling technology. The house, spanning three stories and 200 m2, features a southward-facing glass facade and a central staircase that serves as an air ventilation shaft, creating a microclimate for its residents.
The rehabilitation involved reusing the original wood construction, adding new facades, windows, and repositioning interior walls, resulting in a modern design that pays homage to the villa's 1960s roots. The house is strategically positioned to harness the sun's energy and offers a unique living experience that harmonizes with nature.
Selfors follows the rhythm of nature, offering residents breathtaking views of the sunrise and natural ventilation through its central staircase. The project, which commenced in 2011 and concluded in 2014, is a testament to Bjørnådal's dedication to creating sustainable, functional, and innovative living spaces.
