Black and White Show Unit Design

LINE2PIXELS DESIGN STUDIO presents "Black and White," a show unit designed to cater to the affluent market, redefining luxury with a focus on tastefulness and hidden details. The project, which commenced in 2021, faced challenges due to the lockdown in Malaysia, with the renovation carried out concurrently with the build in 2022.

When LINE2PIXELS received the brief from the client, they aimed to avoid the classic straight-to-your-face luxury, instead focusing on portraying a sense of tastefulness with hidden details. The color theme for the show unit is black and white, with accents of color from loose furniture or hanging decorations. The main focal point of the show unit is the entrance, where a moss art installation creates a captivating "Wow" effect.

The show unit features leather-finished marble in the dry kitchen and granite cladding on the walls and countertops of the wet kitchen. With a specification of 11500mm x 15850mm, the design incorporates unique properties to appeal to the affluent market, showcasing a blend of luxury and tastefulness.

The project faced logistical challenges, with the site being secluded and muddy, requiring the sourcing of water supply to ensure work could be carried out. Additionally, the team had to work concurrently with the main builder, as certain parts of the show unit had not been constructed yet, such as the toilets and the first floor.

Despite facing obstacles such as the area being initially a wetland, the team successfully overcame the challenges and carried out the work with the help of all parties involved. The "Black and White" show unit design was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in 2023, recognizing its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that authenticates experience and resourcefulness.
