Aranya Cafeteria 6: Embracing Brutalism and Industrialization in a Unique Underground Restaurant Design

Y SPACE DESIGN CONSULTING FIRM presents Aranya Cafeteria 6, a distinctive underground restaurant project inspired by the surrounding pet hotel. The design team aimed to expose the original concrete walls and industrial elements, embracing the harsh and rustic appearance to create a unique interior finishing.

The underground space features 7 light patios with green landscapes, allowing natural light to penetrate and create an ecological atmosphere. The space integrates undressed concrete walls, log materials, and greenery to evoke a natural and brutal ambiance, complementing the pet-friendly environment.

The lighting design combines warm and cool sources to shape the atmosphere and positively impact the diners' moods. The interior area spans 2833sqm, with designated spaces for the kitchen, pick-up area, service area, and dining area for customers, creating a seamless and functional layout.

The project, which started in December 2020, faced several challenges, including optimizing artificial lighting in the absence of natural daylight, integrating the inclined walls, and harmonizing the rough concrete with delicate spatial elements. The design team overcame these obstacles to create a warm, busy, and balanced atmosphere for Aranya Cafeteria 6.

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the design team prioritized meal hygiene and food safety, incorporating two hand-washing areas at each entrance to effectively manage rush hour traffic and ensure a safe dining environment.

Aranya Cafeteria 6 received the Bronze A' Design Award in 2022, recognizing its outstanding and creatively ingenious design that authentically embodies experience and resourcefulness, contributing to quality of life improvements.
